Hospitalist CNP or PA - Temporary - 4 months

As a full-time, temporary, Advanced Practice Practitioner (APP), you’ll play a critical role in managing and coordinating post-operative care for Internal Medicine patients. You will work both independently and in partnership with physicians, rounding on patients, prescribing treatments, and supporting the discharge process.

Diagnose, treat, and provide continuous care to hospitalized post-operative patients.
Conduct pre- and post-op assessments, rounds, and communicate directly with patients and families.
Collaborate with surgeons on individualized treatment plans.
Prescribe medications and order/interpret lab tests, imaging, and diagnostics.
Lead discharge planning and coordinate with primary care and other services.
Document clinical care thoroughly and accurately in electronic medical records (EMR).
Support nursing staff and other healthcare team members as needed.
Maintain active continuing education and participate in team meetings.

This is a full-time temporary position; expected from October 2025 to February 2026.

Schedule: Monday - Friday. 7:30am-4:00pm

This Hospitalist position is located at our main hospital location at 910 E 20th St. Sioux Falls, SD.

At our surgical specialty hospital, the 33-bed Recovery Care Unit is a vital component for the continuation of care for our surgical patients needing an overnight stay. On average, our patients stay 1-2 nights, where our dedicated team prioritizes a patient-centered approach to care. Requirements

Education, Experience, Licenses, and Certifications:

Graduate of an accredited Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant program
Licensed (or eligible for licensure) in the State of South Dakota
BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications preferred (can be obtained upon hire)
2+ years in urgent care, emergency medicine, or family practice strongly preferred
Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills
Ability to prioritize and manage multiple patients and situations
Skilled in the use of EMR systems and standard medical software
Excellent communication and teamwork abilities
Familiarity with infection control procedures and emergency response
